Heliconia with Lee Castle
2 Day Workshop - Monday 3rd & Tuesday 4th July
The Heliconia was awarded with the prestigious 'Excellence Award' from Country Bumpkin.
Heliconia typically grow in warm tropical climates and rainforests. Their beautiful blooms are brightly coloured with stiff waxy petals that make fabulous long lasting cut flowers. This Heliconia is commonly known as Lobster Claw and is Lee's favourite. The entire flower head is wired and freestanding from the fabric, attached only at the stem. Students will explore encroaching satin shading, padded satin and wire wrapping. The large leaf is also dimensional and worked separately from the background. Simple stitches combined for a striking effect!
The design size measures 17cm x 25 cm.
