Royal Bookends with Hazel Blomkamp from South Africa
2 Day Workshop - Thursday 6th & Friday 7th July
Whether you are a Republican or a Royalist, crowns, with all of their precious metals and jewels are fabulous subject matter for the embroiderer who likes to use beads and metal threads, particularly if you would like to stitch something for a man.
Specifically designed for those who would like tuition on satin stitch and long and short stitch shading, the design consists largely of simple stitches with only a bit of fiddly – but not difficult – stitching when the beads and metals are added.
Bead embroidery: 4 techniques
Crewel embroidery: 7 stitches
Metal Embroidery: 2 techniques
Designed to fit into bookends, each kit will include both 195 x 120 mm prints needed for a pair of bookends, along with all enough threads, beads and pearls to complete the prints. Arrangements are being made for the bookends to be available in Australia to those that want them.
Skill level: Intermediate to advanced
