Introduction to Picture Framing with Trevor Penney from Victoria

2 Day Workshop - Saturday 1st & Tuesday 2nd July

The cost of framing is a large additional expense to complete your project and so important that it is done well. We are offering  workshops to give you the knowledge to frame your own projects. A perfect class for your partner!

This class is ideal for the absolute novice to the intermediate level DIY framer and is taken by Trevor Penney a professional framing tutor who has been travelling around Australia for many years teaching on behalf of FrameCo.

Even if already do framing, you will find this class will answer many of the most frequently asked questions. You will be shown lot’s of shortcuts and “tricks of the trade” to make your framing projects easier to do and give them a more professional look using the FrameCo system and tools.

You will learn

  •     Colour concepts and design layouts
  •     How to measure your mats and artworks
  •     Mounting  techniques for a wide range of projects
  •     Easy ways to measure, cut and join mouldings
  •     Fit and finishing off techniques

This class will also give you the opportunity to gain “hands on experience” in Mat cutting and all other aspects in the picture framing process. You will have more than ample time to practice the innovative styles of creating creative mat cutting to really enhance any framing project and display it to it’s full potential, this includes double mats.
The class is designed to encourage everyone to ask as many questions as you want regarding your own specific framing projects and you are more than welcome, in fact, strongly advised to bring along examples of your works enabling more in depth discussion and more positive results on the best way of framing them. Then you will be encouraged to mount and cut mats to display a particular item from the materials supplied at the class so that it is ready for framing.

Skill level: All welcome

Kit cost: Full use of all the required tools and materials are included in the class price.

Trevor will be bringing a range of tools and equipment with him and by attending this class, you are able to purchase any of the FrameCo range of equipment and get expert advice on which tools will best suit your individual needs, to ensure you get maximum benefit from the class, if you wish.

Andrew joined Stephanie to learn framing with Trevor and completed the excellent framing of Oskar their family pet. Well done to Lesley Turpin-Delport from South Africa who taught each student how to stitch their own pet.
